Medicare Part D
You are working in an agency, located in North Carolina, that provides information about Medicare and assists older adults with Medicare decisions. Your client, Mr. Cody age 65, comes to you requesting assistance with his decision about which Medicare Part D (prescription drug) provider he should select. He has tried to navigate the Medicare web site to better understand his options but needs your help. Attached is a list (see attachment) of Mr. Cody’s current prescriptions. Your assignment is to use the prescription information provided to help Mr Cody make a decision.
Go online to www.Medicare.gov and navigate through the system to find prescription drug plans (Medicare Part D) available to residents of North Carolina, enter the prescription data provided in the attachment and you will be presented with a list of potential insurance plans. Decide which one is best for Mr Cody. Remember Mr Cody is only looking for Part D not Medigap or other plans.
In a paper that is less than 3 pages double spaced respond to the following:
1. Which plan should Mr Cody choose and why?
2. In a reflective piece, please describe your experiences navigating the web site being sure to include not only a description of the process of discerning the needed information but also a description of the affect/feelings you experienced as you completed this task.
3. If you were a policy-maker what would you do, if anything, to improve this information system to better assist older adults?
